Thursday 13 - Thirteen Faces of Shadow

Today, I took this really amazing picture of Shadow.  It's one of those shots that you never think will come along, and when it does you just can't stop staring at it.  So that got me thinking about all the interesting expressions that he makes everyday.  And here are thirteen of the best for Thursday 13.  Hope you enjoy!

1.  This is that super amazing shot I was talking about.  Isn't it great?!

2.  This is a photo from when he was younger.  I think it's really interesting that his eyes look two-colored when they're actually not.

3.  This is also somewhat of an older picture.  I love the color of his eyes in this one!

4.  He was in a bucket when I snapped this.  :0)

5.  He almost looks a bit scared here, but I don't know why.

6.  That's his curious look!  He thinks it's so fun to watch the fishies :0)

7.  Fast asleep! <^..^>

8.  I don't even know what to say about this : )

9.  I love how you can see the little furs on his paw and just the tip of his tooth in this picture.

10.  Normal face (I guess)

11.  His eyes look like they are sorta glowing.

12.  Kinda looks like he's smiling = )

13.  Just adorable with his little foot in the air!

So, there you have it!  Thirteen different expressions of Shadow!  Maybe I'll do thirteen pictures of Smudges next.  While you're here, don't forget to check out our awesome reviews and stupendous giveaways happening right now!  You can find them all in the tabs above.  Have fun and don't forget to head back here soon, cause we have several new giveaways that will start this week!  Hope to see you again real soon <^..^>

Thursday 13 And How To Make An Origami Cat

Hello friends and thanks so very much for coming by today.  We appreciate each and every one of you wonderfully awesome readers!  Just a friendly reminder, don't forget about our giveaways running right now on our blog on the giveaway tab above.  If you enter, you just might win!  Trust me, it's possible (I've won several blog giveaways!)  Now, onto the 3rd edition of Thursday 13.

Ever since I was young, I have wanted to make origami.  There's just something awe-inspiring about the art of folding paper ( something so common ) into something so beautiful.  I have tried it a few times, and I have always either messed it up or given up because it was too hard.  I know, I give up too easily, but today I made up for it.  I actually started and completed several origami projects!  And, I had a lot of fun doing it!  So, I wanted to document for you, our readers, how I made one of them.  Here goes!

Thirteen (ish) steps to make an origami cat!

Before I begin, I would love to credit this awesome website which helped me succeed:  Origami Instructions. com.   You can go there for more detailed instructions, and there are a lot more awesome step by step origami projects there too.

1.  We had some origami paper at home, but if you don't, just make sure to use a completely square sheet of paper.  The size doesn't really matter, just as long as it is big enough for you.  Take that paper and fold it in half diagonally, color side down.

2.  Next, fold the top corner down to meet the middle crease.

3.  Now, fold the paper along the fold you made earlier to look like this:

4.  Fold one side of the paper over to line up with the edges of the paper to look like this:

Then do the same for the other side.

5.  Next, fold both flaps up to make the ears.  It should look like this:

6.  Fold down the top part to make the head flat, like this:

7.  Now flip the paper over and fold up the bottom part to look like this

8.  And flip the top part down just a bit to make the cute little nose for your kitty!

9.  The head is complete!  Now onto the body.  Start exactly how you started with the head.  Get a square sheet of paper and fold it diagonally with the color side facing down.

10.  Next, fold the paper to look like this:

And do the same for the other side to make it look kinda like a kite.

11.  Now fold it along the creased line like so:

12.  Now onto the tail.  This gets a bit difficult, but all tails are different right?  So don't sweat it if you don't get it perfect.  Mine definitely wasn't!

First, fold it like this:

Next, fold it like this so the tail is pretty much hanging at a 90 degree angle:

After that, unfold the tail and fold it back like this:

Then, simply fold the bottom of the tail up:

and over, and viola!  The tail is complete!

13.  The last step is to put your cat's head on it's body, add eyes, and enjoy your new creation!  Oh, and you HAVE to give it a name!  My kitty's name is Noodle!

Isn't he adorable?  And, Ty made one too, "Jello"  By the way, you can use a strip or two of tape to keep the head on.  (I won't tell!)

Thursday 13 And Our Love Story

Hello all you wonderful people out there in Internet Land, and welcome to another installment of Thursday 13!  Since it is so close to Valentine's Day, today I am writing on 13 things about my sweet wonderful fiance, Tyler, and our relationship.  Hope you enjoy <^..^>

1.  How we met and fell in love.

I have known Tyler since our sophomore year of high school.  We met in the cafeteria at school and became best friends almost instantly.  Anyone who knows Tyler knows that he is a very funny guy. He knows how to make anyone laugh, ( one of the many things about him that I fell in love with <3 ) and that is what interested me about him the most! Who doesn't want to be around a funny guy, right?  At the time, he wasn't going to church and I got him to start coming with me.  After a few months of church, he made a decision to give his heart to the Lord!  He decided to devote his life to God.  And, little did he know, this gave me the excuse I needed to allow myself to fall head over heels for him!  I had made a promise to God that I wouldn't date guys that hadn't given their life to God, and when Tyler did, I could start to see him as more than a friend (even though I secretly already had feelings for him!)  After that, it was only a matter of time before he worked up the courage to ask me out.  He was a very shy guy! ( it's sweet! )  And, of course, I said yes!  Our anniversary of the day we started going out was January 2, 2010.  Which, by the way, is the date we picked for our upcoming wedding in 2014!  Tyler was my first boyfriend (and last!) and it was all a brand new experience for me!

This is a picture of us a couple of months after we started dating, our junior year of high school. I'm on the right side and he's on the left. Sorry about the bad quality, we were on a bus : )

2.  Exactly a month after we officially started going out, ( Ground hog's Day ) we had our first kiss!  It's a very sweet story, but maybe for another time!

3.  Our birthdays are exactly a week apart!  We were both born the same year, and we were both born in December, exactly 7 days apart.  Which, of course, is so fun for gift buying especially with Christmas right in between and our anniversary right after *sarcasm* : )

4.  Timeless Valley

When we first started going out, we didn't get to spend much time together.  So, we quickly came up with what came to be called "Timeless Valley"  Timeless Valley is an escape. It is whatever we want it to be.  It's a place where everything is perfect and a special place just for us.  When we are stressed from the cares of the day or just lonely, when we can't spend time together or are apart for whatever reason, we'll go to Timeless Valley.  Usually we will be on the phone and we will just make believe ( no, I'm not afraid to admit that, make believe is awesome! ) that we are together.  If you don't have something like this, I would highly recommend it!  Within minutes, you can be on an island with your toes in the sand, watching a beautiful sunset with the one you love!  To explain it further, below is a poem that I wrote about it back in 2010. ( I took that picture too, right before a storm! )

5.  We both love cartoons!  ( only the old and good ones )

6.  Tyler's nickname for me is Kitten! <^..^>

Ty drew this for me!
7.  He proposed to me on my 20th birthday.  He took me to a local lake when it was really stormy and cold.  We went out to a dock, he got down on one knee, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him!

8.  Our song is " You'll Be In My Heart " by Phil Collins!  Yeah, that one song from the Tarzan movie ( I know it's weird, but it's a sweet song! )

9.  We do a thing called "Just Because I Love You Day"  It's a day when one of us surprises the other with gifts just because I love you!

This was what Ty got me for our last JBILYD!

10.  We complete each other.

An old photo from a photo booth.

11.  We both adore kitties ( obviously )

12.  We are fully committed to each other.

13.  We are deeply and madly in love!

Well, I hope you enjoyed the post!  Leave a comment below if you did.  Have a great day and thanks so very very much for stopping by <^..^>
